Fraters Seek Way to Help Haitians, Find Ittkeogc@tke.org (Tau Kappa Epsilon)2010-01-22The devastation in Haiti, after one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the island since 1770, has been immense. The quake (7.0 on the Richter Scale) struck at about 5PM on January 12th and some three million people were in need of emergency care, not to mention those that were hurt because of the two aftershocks that reached 5.9 and 4.2 on the Richter Scale. These gifts have been received since the Foundation began in 1959. However, 30% of these dollars have been given within the last five years. This means that Tekes contributed $11.2 Million over the first forty years between 1959 and 2004. From 2005 ? 2009, Tekes have contributed nearly $5 Million!Read full artical

Frater Raises Awareness for Glaucomatkeogc@tke.org (Tau Kappa Epsilon)2010-03-24Frater Gene Grace (Alpha-Omega, UCLA) has been working for years to raise awareness about the dangers of glaucoma and blindness. He is shown to the right speaking to government and scientific officials on the 15th anniversary of the founding of United States China Foundation (USCF). Frater Gene is an internationally known ophthalmologist who, with his programmer Hank Dean, has developed software that places into the hands of anyone with a computer the time-tested and proven tangent-screen for screening, diagnosing and following blind-spots. In all types of glaucoma, blind-spots are foremost in the criteria to be studied in this potentially blinding and all too common condition throughout the world.Read full artical

In the Midwest and the West, some chapters recruit nearly 80 percent of their new members for the coming year in the summer preceding the fall term and recruit better quality and higher quantity of new members than competitors. In the chapters where summer recruitment is rare or non-existent, any chapter smart enough to seize this opportunity can completely blow the doors off the competition.Read full artical
